The three most practical for daily life are Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny) for personal character and timing, Feng Shui for the energy of homes and workplaces, and divination — including the I Ching (易經) — for clarity on specific decisions. They work best together, and Bazi is the usual starting point.
Chinese metaphysics is not a single practice but a coherent family of disciplines, all grounded in the same worldview: that heaven, earth, and humanity move in observable cycles of yin-yang and the Five Elements. The classical tradition groups these arts into the Five Arts — and three of them form the core of my practice.
Bazi: The Study of Destiny
Bazi (Four Pillars of Destiny) analyzes the cosmic imprint of your birth moment. It answers questions of character, capacity, and — crucially — timing. Think of it as the map of your life’s terrain: it shows where the mountains and rivers are, so you can plan your route intelligently.
Feng Shui: The Study of Environment
If Bazi is the map of your inner terrain, Feng Shui is the study of the outer one. It examines how landforms, building orientation, room arrangement, and time-based energy cycles affect the people in a space. Good Feng Shui does not replace effort — it removes friction, so your effort produces results more smoothly.
Divination: The Study of the Moment
Divination — including I Ching (Yi Jing) methods and Qi Men Dun Jia — reads the energy of a specific question at a specific moment. Where Bazi describes long arcs and Feng Shui describes spaces, divination excels at concrete, near-term decisions: Should I accept this offer? Is this partnership sound? What am I not seeing in this situation?

In practice, the disciplines reinforce one another. A Bazi reading may reveal a favorable career window; divination can refine the specific choice in front of you; Feng Shui ensures your home and workspace support the direction you’ve chosen.
